The privileges of Eastern Culture and Civilization According to the Presentations Delivered by the Iranian Professors in Abai Kazakh University

According to the public relations office of the Institute for Cultural, Social and Civilization Studies affiliated with the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a number of Iranian professors delivered presentations on the eastern culture and civilization in Abai Kazakh University at the initiative of Iran’s cultural attaché to Almaty of Kazakhstan. This conference was attended by students and professors of Abai University and a number of Iranian scholars of Farabi research including Dr. Gholamreza Aavani, a distinguished Iranian philosopher,Dr. Reza Gholami,director of the Institute for Cultural, Social and Civilization Studies, Dr. Masoud Omid,and Dr. Reza Mahuzi.
At the beginning of the session, Iran’s cultural attaché to Almaty introduced the Iranian scholars and reiterated the importance of intercultural and academic communications between Iran and Kazakhstan including exchange of students between the two countries.
Then,Dr. Aavani and Dr. Gholami presented their lectures on the characteristics and privileges of the eastern culture and civilization.Dr. Avani stated that chronologically speaking, wisdom was prior to the formation of philosophy in the ancient Greece. He described Iran as one of the most important centers for wisdom and discussed the unique role of the cultural land of the great Iran in promotion of philosophy and wisdom. He described Farabi as the fruition of the eastern wisdom, stating that the Kazah people should be proud of Frabi and make an attempt to promote his ideas at global level. Then, Dr. Gholami began his lecture, arguing that the spirit of eastern culture and civilization can be considered as a whole, for, it has created commonalities in the traditions and cultures of the eastern people, but we cannot view the “eastern culture” as a single entity with common points in every aspect and in all details. The reason is that different nations in the eastern or southern Asia enjoy a variety and multiplicity of styles in their culture and civilization.Dr. Gholami added: I would like to discuss briefly some of the common features of the eastern cultures and civilizations. First: survival of tradition in the east, second: originality of metaphysics, third: wisdom and knowledge, fourth: spirituality and sublimity, fifth: seeking the sublime in art and architecture, sixth: inclination towards interaction and communication, seventh: loving peace and peaceful life.
