Dr. Mohammad Hosseini Moghadam is a researcher and future studies scholar in the field of science, technology, and higher education foresight. He conducts his research from a strategic foresight perspective. For the past five years, he has been leading a foresight research program on the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the scenarios facing Iranian universities and higher education institutions.
Educational background:
Dr. Hosseini Moghadam's academic journey began with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Isfahan University, Iran (1997-2001). He then pursued a Master of Science degree in Political Science from the National University of Iran (Shahid Beheshti) in Tehran (2001-2004). His master's thesis, titled "Information Development and the Future of National Sovereignty in Iran," demonstrated his early interest in the intersection of information, politics, and future studies.
From 2008 to 2013, Dr. Hosseini Moghadam earned a PhD in Future Studies from Imam Khomeini International University (Qazvin, Iran). His doctoral dissertation, titled "The Future of Higher Education in Iran in the Light of the Internationalization of Higher Education," was based on his face-to-face interaction with the agents and beneficiaries of university internationalization and his understanding of the transformative potential of globalization in the educational landscape.
Research contributions and activities:
After completing his PhD, Dr. Hosseini Moghadam continued his research activities in the field of higher education futures studies. Since 2017, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Foresight at the Research Institute for Cultural and Social Studies.
One of his most notable works is the book "Iranian University in the International Sphere: Internationalization of Higher Education and the Future of the University in Iran" (2018), which explores the evolving dynamics of education in a global context and their impact on the future of universities in Iran. He is also the author of the book "Proposal of a Model for the Evaluation of Iran's Higher Education System Using the Best Experiences of Selected Countries" (2011), which provides guidelines on how to improve the state of higher education in Iran.
His most recent book, "Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Higher Education in Iran" (2022), synthesizes global and national experiences to examine the implications of artificial intelligence for higher education in Iran.
