The Minister of Science, Research, and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, by issuing separate decrees, appointed the secretary, the head of the secretariat, and the secretary of the scientific council of the 17th International Farabi Festival. As the most important national event in the fields of humanities and Islamic sciences, the Farabi Festival is held annually with the aim of identifying and introducing top research works.
According to the Public Relations Office of the International Farabi Festival, Professor Hossein Simaii, the Minister of Science, Research, and Technology of Iran and Head of the 17th International Farabi Festival, appointed the officials for this edition of the festival in separate decrees.
Based on the issued decree, Professor Vahid Shalchi was appointed as the secretary of the 17th International Farabi Festival. This decree emphasizes meticulous planning and the utilization of all capacities for the worthy holding of this edition of the festival.
In a separate decree, upon the recommendation of the festival secretary, the Minister of Science appointed Professor Mohammad-Taqi Karami as the head of the secretariat for the 17th edition of the International Farabi Festival. Pointing out the essential role of the secretariat in holding this important scientific event, the decree emphasizes the proper organization of this edition.
Also, upon the recommendation of the head of the secretariat, Professor Reza Mahouzi was appointed as the secretary of the scientific council of the 17th International Farabi Festival by the Minister of Science in a separate decree. In this decree, Hossein Simaii emphasized the rigorous scientific evaluation of the distinguished works received.
Named after the prominent Iranian philosopher, Abu Nasr Farabi, the International Farabi Festival is considered the most important scientific festival in the fields of humanities and Islamic sciences at the national level and one of the most prominent scientific festivals in the field of humanities internationally. It is held with the aim of identifying, evaluating, and introducing top works and research in this field. The festival operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in past editions, it has become a platform for introducing prominent domestic and international research in the humanities and Islamic sciences. According to the festival's statutes, the Minister of Science serves as the head of the festival, and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Social Affairs serves as the festival's secretary. The festival's secretariat is located at the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies, and the head of this institute serves as the head of the festival's secretariat.
The International Farabi Festival is held annually in Tehran and began its work in 2007 (1386 AP). Its 16th edition was implemented in 2025 (1404 AP), and its closing ceremony was held in Bahman of that year with the presence of the President.
